Talisman Metals
A comprehensive investor-grade corporate web presence built on WordPress for Talisman Metals PLC (AIM: TLM) — a mining company developing next-generation copper deposits across the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. The platform integrates live financial data from the London Stock Exchange, automated dual news feeds, a full investor relations portal, and dynamic CMS architecture — all within strict AIM exchange compliance requirements and a mid-November launch deadline.
The Corporate Brief.
Talisman Metals PLC is an AIM-listed mining company led by CEO Timothy McCutcheon, CFO Leah O'Donovan, and Head Geologist Fabien Linares — focused on the exploration and development of copper deposits in Morocco's mineral-rich Atlas Mountains. Their core project, Fougnar, sits 25km west of the Tizert copper mine currently under construction and slated to produce up to 40,000 tonnes of copper annually. A second project, Tirzzit, was acquired in February 2026.
Copper is at the centre of the global energy transition — essential to the electrification of transport and energy storage infrastructure — making Talisman's "smart mining for a green future" positioning both commercially and narratively important. The platform needed to serve two simultaneous audiences: retail and institutional investors requiring compliant, real-time financial data, and the broader market audience following the company's exploration progress.
As Lead Developer, my responsibility extended far beyond standard template building — I was tasked with restructuring the entire WordPress CMS, integrating live financial APIs, engineering an automated news ecosystem, and ensuring absolute precision in the presentation of executive personnel and regulatory disclosures.
Site Architecture.
The site was structured around the distinct information needs of Talisman's key audiences — investors, analysts, journalists, and the exploration community — with a full investor relations portal as the centrepiece:
Homepage
Live copper price spotlight, automated news feeds (corporate RNS and global copper market), management team profiles, Fougnar project teaser, and newsletter subscription — all dynamically populated.
About Us
Company overview, management team with individual biography pages (CEO, CFO, Head Geologist), advisory board, and technical team — all formatted to exact client capitalization and title standards.
Projects
Dedicated pages for the Fougnar Cu-Ag project and Tirzzit copper project — covering geology, exploration programmes, TEM and IP survey results, and the "In the Shadow of the Giant" Tizert proximity narrative.
News & Events
Dual feed — official RNS press releases (Tirzzit Update, Fougnar TEM Survey, Exploration Updates, Commencement of Work) alongside automated global copper market news from third-party sources.
Investors Portal
Six dedicated sub-pages: Share Price Information (live LSE feed), Results/Reports/Presentations, Major Shareholders, Advisers & Registrars, Corporate Governance, and Rule 26 AIM Disclosures.
Corporate Presentation
Self-hosted Q4 2025 Corporate Presentation PDF directly accessible from the hero — providing instant access to the investor pack without external hosting dependencies.
UX & CMS Structuring.
A listed mining company requires meticulous attention to data hierarchy, personnel presentation, and regulatory compliance. I executed a comprehensive restructuring of the site's architecture across three primary workstreams:
Homepage Optimisation
- Project narrative: Replaced outdated placeholder modules with the "In the Shadow of the Giant" Tizert proximity story — a compelling investment case positioning Fougnar relative to a confirmed, large-scale copper operation nearby.
- Custom CSS asset handling: Ensured high-resolution mine construction imagery and video stills scaled correctly within responsive grids across all breakpoints.
- Dynamic data sections: Live copper price, real-time share price, and automated news feeds all populated without manual client intervention.
Precision Personnel Management
- Individual biography pages: Custom click-through architecture built for Timothy McCutcheon (CEO), Leah O'Donovan (CFO), and Fabien Linares (Head Geologist) — each with individual page IDs and profile content.
- Social integration removal: LinkedIn feed embeds removed entirely in favour of clean, manageable static profiles — eliminating third-party dependency failures.
- Strict formatting standards: Global formatting rules enforced across all executive titles — exact capitalization, punctuation, and nomenclature matching the client's AIM compliance requirements.
- Advisory Board module: Distinct section built for advisory board and technical team members, architecturally separated from the core management team.
Investor Relations Portal
- Legacy data audit: Redundant historical data and outdated geographic references removed — portal restructured around the company's current Moroccan focus.
- Document archive: Structured archive system built for annual reports, results presentations, and RNS releases — with PDF download links for each publication.
- Rule 26 disclosures: Dedicated, correctly structured page for AIM Rule 26 compliance disclosures — a mandatory regulatory requirement for AIM-listed companies.
Engineering Data Feeds.
The core technical challenge was integrating live, dynamic financial and market data without expensive third-party plugin licensing. I engineered three custom solutions:
Live Financial Integrations
- LSE share price feed: Real-time Talisman Metals (AIM: TLM) share price data pulled directly from the London Stock Exchange — achieving live market data display at zero licensing cost through strategic API implementation.
- Live copper price chart: Embedded live copper commodity price chart providing investors with immediate commodity context alongside the company's share performance.
Automated Dual-News Ecosystem
- Corporate RNS feed: Official Regulatory News Service announcements auto-populate — covering Tirzzit Updates, Fougnar TEM and IP Surveys, Exploration Programme Updates, and appointment announcements — without requiring daily client input.
- Global copper market feed: A secondary API integration automatically pulls broader copper sector news from Mining.com and equivalent sources — supporting the "smart mining for a green future" narrative with live third-party validation.
Self-Hosted Media Infrastructure
- WordPress-native video hosting: All corporate video presentations self-hosted within the WordPress media library — eliminating iframe dependencies, avoiding cross-browser compatibility issues, and removing external hosting costs.
- PDF asset management: Corporate presentations, RNS PDFs, and regulatory documents all served from within the WordPress environment with direct download links.

Key Observations.
AIM Compliance is Architecture, Not a Checklist
Building a website for a publicly listed company is categorically different from a standard corporate build. Rule 26 disclosures, share price data, RNS integration, and executive title formatting are not optional features — they are regulatory requirements. Every structural decision on this platform had to account for both investor usability and exchange compliance simultaneously.
Free API Access Can Replace Expensive Third-Party Tools
The LSE share price integration — typically delivered through costly licensed data widgets — was achieved through direct API implementation at no licensing cost. This required more engineering effort than a plug-and-play solution, but delivered a cleaner, faster, more reliable result without ongoing subscription overhead.
Automation Reduces Investor Relations Overhead
A publicly listed mining company issues frequent RNS announcements — exploration updates, personnel appointments, survey results — and cannot rely on a developer to manually update the website each time. The automated dual-news ecosystem means every announcement and relevant market development is surfaced immediately without any client intervention, keeping the investor-facing platform current at all times.
